Tammy Maughan

Tammy comes from a family with 3 generations of chiropracters. Despite being very good at Biology and Chemistry , she decided to go in a different direction and in 2008 graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, she then followed this by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Business Management.

Tammy’s working career started in 2008 when she began working for Outsource Partner International based in Sofia, Bulgaria. Responsible for the accounts receivable department looking after some of the largest corporate clients in the world. After being involved in some large projects, Tammy decided to move to the UK in 2010 to further her career. In UK she obtained AAT qualification as well as Prince 2 and Agile certificates in Project Management. She had a very successful career at London based accounting firm, Income Made Smart, responsible for the accounting and tax planning for sole traders and self employed individuals. She was promoted to Senior Operations Manager and spent 4 years at this position, managing a team of nearly 30, running a software implementation for the whole company while also handling the HR role for the whole business.

It was at this point Tammy had a life changing health warning. After a stressful day at work, she passed out, and when she came to, she had lost vision on the right and couldn’t balance properly. After going to hospital and spending weeks having ECG, MRI and other tests, it was discovered that she had actually had a mini stroke. Which, at the age of 30 , and her being healthy and fit, was a shock to everyone, doctors included. Western Medicine could not offer an explanation of what happened to Tammy and also there was nothing that the doctors could offer to assist her with recovery. This is when Tammy turned to a prationer of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) in London. After 4 weeks of treatment , Tammy's vision was back 80% and after another 2 months of treatmets she made a fully recovery. The results of her treatment sparked a genuine interest in TCM and she started spending hours with her practitioner obseving patient treatments and discussing her own condition. It was at this point that Tammy decided to leave her career in Finance and study TCM . She is determined to dedicate her life to helping others.

She now has a BSc (Hons) Degree in Acupuncture and Higher Level Degree in Chinese Herbal Medicine . She resides in Lincoln and has two children of her own. My journey in complementary therapies began in 2010 when I was diagnosed with both fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. During my recovery, I experienced several different types of therapies before realising that I wanted to use these techniques to help others. I take a holistic approach to my treatments, as I strongly believe that the mind, body and spirit are all interconnected. We are all unique individuals, so whichever therapy you choose will be individually tailored to your own needs.

The therapies I currently offer are massage and reiki. Massage can benefit all the physical body systems, especially the musculoskeletal, circulatory, lymphatic, immune and nervous systems. As well as physical benefits, it also provides mental and psychological benefits. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.

As well as holistic massage, I also offer deeper, sports massage treatments. I have now achieved the ITEC Level 3 Sports Massage qualification which I studied at St Mary’s University in Twickenham, London. Sports massage involves managing the soft tissues of the body by hands on treatment and it keeps muscles supple and free from tension, knots and adhesions. Most injuries are as a result of lifestyle, rather than sport, so whether you are involved in sports or not, regular sports massage treatments can alleviate pain and keep your muscles, tendons and ligaments in really good shape.
